Born in eastern North Carolina, he was raised on the water. Fishing from a young age he quickly grew a passion for the sport. Changing his passion to his profession, spartina guide service was formed to share the experience with others. Traveling down to the Florida Keys yearly to expand his knowledge on fishing, he then decided this is where he wanted to guide from.
